Members of the Education and Cultural Subcommittee of the NZCA Executive Committee comprising Kuan Meng Goh, Betty Leung, David Tai and Sid Lim assessed all the applications received for the 2008 NZCA Academic Awards. We are pleased to report on the results and recommendations as stated below:
NCEA Level 1 Award

As up to five awards are allowed, we recommend that all the four candidates be awarded $250 each.
NZCA Tertiary Scholarship Awards

As up to three awards are allowed, we recommend that the first three candidates be awarded $750 each.
As shown above, a total of nine applications were received. There were no applications for the NCEA Level 3 or 4 Chinese Award.
I thank all members of the Subcommittee for their valuable inputs in the assessments and also all the candidates for submitting their applications and taking part in the competition.
